Conquest of a Mind

Some of the things in life happen to you when you either don’t think about it or when you stand across the sea shore thinking of it.

With the only five rupee coin left in my pocket I thought I would buy a cigarette & figure out my life.

It was then when I saw a group of saffron cannibals marching with rage, and all I could see in their eyes was an aimless protest.

What could I do? What was I doing till then? What was my aim in life? Was I any different from them in my head? Where am I raging with my life?

How long can I hold myself together? When should I break free? When cam I stop talking? When will someone listen to me?

So I stand by the entrance of the cigarette shop watching these pass by. And when I turned back towards the shop to buy my brand of cigarette, to my disbelief the shopkeeper had already shut the shop in fear.

I pleaded him to give me just one cigarette as I knew I had got a point to think about my life.

But nevertheless I just could not manage to get one.

So as I just walk past the road to take a long walk at the sea shore, an old man walked towards me asking me for five bucks, I was amazed at the exact denomination he knew I had.

I gave him the last five rupee coin I had and had nice long walk enjoying the cool breeze at the shore, missing my cigarette I kept gazing around.

On my way back from the road I saw the same old man smoking the same brand of cigarette I wanted to smoke and presumably with the money I gave him.

I stopped right in front of him to get his attention, but never showed one bit of hesitation to ignore me.

I just had to walk away without the fact of knowing what a lesson I had learnt (until now), as the old man was smoking his way to glory.

Some of the things in life happen to you when you either don’t think about it or when you stand across the sea shore thinking of it….
